Regional Action in Europe
European women of the WMW will mobilize in June 30th in Turkey, for a public forum and a demonstration
A gathering of European feminists will take place June 30th in Istanbul to focus on our 4 action areas to be discussed in a Public Forum. This will be followed by a demonstration, in which we will express our solidarity with Turkish and Kurdish women in their struggle for women’s rights and people’s self-determination. We will articulate our idea of an open, democratic and secular Europe where all women can enjoy and benefit from their rights as full citizens. This demonstration will take place on the eve of the opening of the European Social Forum. As always, the European Coordination for the WMW is dedicated to strengthening feminist presence in the Forum’s discussions and ‘contaminating’ the Forum’s allied social movements with our demands.
The women from the Balkans are organizing a caravan from June 26th to July 26th to participate in the European action. They will pass through Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo and Albania.
